Wassail! at Big Fish Cider • Saturday, January 12 • 5 pm • Monterey, VA • After the Twelve Days of Christmas, we will be following the old English customs of walking to an orchard at night, scaring away any evil spirits, and waking the tree spirits with gifts and a blessing. Live Music featuring Alex Arbaugh • Saturday, January 12 • 8 pm – 12 am • The Curly Maple • Monterey, VA • Following the Big Fish Wassail event, the Curly Maple will offer a select menu, cash/credit bar, and live music. The select menu will be offered until sold out and will begin around 7 pm. HCAC Concert Series: Lewis Freeman and Elizabeth Kluegel  • Friday, February 15 • 7 pm • The Highland Center • Monterey, VA • Jump start your romantic Valentine’s weekend with an evening of love songs performed by renowned vocalists, Lewis Freeman and Elizabeth Kluegel.  Featuring songs from Opera, The American Songbook, Leonard Bernstein, and Stephen Sondheim, this performance is sure to warm your heart. • Tickets: Adults: $10, Children ages 15-18: $5, Children under 15: free. • For more info, visit the Highland County Arts Council website.

HCAC Concert Series: Tyler Hughes  • Saturday, March 9 • 3 pm • The Highland Center • Monterey, VA • Tyler Hughes hails from Big Stone Gap, Virginia, where he began learning the traditions of mountain music at age 12.  A singer and multi-instrumentalist (clawhammer banjo, autoharp, guitar, and dulcimer), Tyler brings new life to country music’s old time and classic repertoire. • Tickets: Adults: $10, Children ages 15-18: $5, Children under 15: free. • For more info, visit the Highland County Arts Council website.

HCAC Concert Series: Wayne Henderson & Helen White • Saturday, March 16 • 3 pm • The Highland Center • Monterey, VA • Wayne Henderson is a National Heritage Award recipient honored for his craftsmanship as a luthier and his renowned finger-style Appalachian guitar playing. A singer, fiddler, guitarist, and tunesmith, Helen White has toured extensively with Wayne in the U.S. and Europe. After a spectacular performance at The Highland Center last year, Wayne Henderson and Helen White return March 16th for a special concert during the Maple Festival. • Tickets: Adults: $10, Children ages 15-18: $5, Children under 15: free. • For more info, visit the Highland County Arts Council website.

HCAC Concert Series: Heifetz On Tour • Saturday, April 28 • 3  pm • The Highland Center • Monterey, VA • Heifetz On Tour will bring a set of outstanding young classical musicians to The Highland Center.  Highland County is one stop on a tour that takes the performers around Virginia and the East Coast. Drama Camp: How to Eat Like a Child • June 24-28 • Highland Elementary School • Monterey, VA • Written by Delia Ephron, this production will be performed by students participating in the Summer Drama Camp.
