Maple Festival > Festival Events

Craft Shows One of the
largest shows of the season! Artists and crafters
from all over the east coast display their artistic
creations in various locations throughout Highland
County. Festival maps will be available throughout
the county. A one-time-only admission charge of
$2.00 includes daytime entertainment in The Highland
Center and the Art & Crafts Shows at the Highland
Elementary & High Schools (age 12 and under
free).
IN MONTEREY

Highland Elementary Schools
More than 80 vendors fill the two gymnasiums
with a variety of fine art & crafts, including
baskets, candles, jewelry, leather, paintings,
pottery, quilts, yarn, stained glass, and wood
furnishings.
Courthouse
Lawn Baskets, sheepskins,
wood furnishings, jewelry and candles are just
a few of the crafts to be found on the Courthouse
lawn.
Main Street
Tour the historic district of Monterey and shop
for country crafts and maple products. A selection
of shops includes antiques, fine arts and unique
gifts.
IN MCDOWELL
Stonewall Ruritan Building
Browse through the selection of baked goods
and country crafts on the grounds of the Ruritan
building in the historic village of McDowell.

Enjoy a selection of period crafts and demonstrations.

Area Museums
MAPLE MUSEUM
The Maple Museum,
a replica of an old-time sugar house, is located
on US Route 220 just south of Monterey. The
exhibit shows the earliest known methods, tools,
and equipment used by Native Americans in making
sugar and syrup, as well as the latest and most
modern techniques. Open all year, the Maple
Museum is free of charge.
HIGHLAND COUNTY MUSEUM & HERITAGE CENTER
The museum features
ongoing exhibits on Highland County history
including the 1862 Battle of McDowell, the Staunton-to-Parkersburg
Turnpike and the story of the Mansion House.

Food No visit to Highland
